Chevrolet Traverse
Slotted between the Equinox and the Tahoe, the 2019 Traverse is Chevrolet's midsize SUV offering, but it's anything but ordinary. Fresh off a total rehash in 2018, the 2019 edition adds some new cosmetic updates to the exterior and an automatic switch for the heated steering wheel. Some excellent power-train options remain from last year, and at its core, the Traverse is one handsome SUV that's reliable, capable, and versatile.

Engine
Beneath the attractive sheet metal of the 2019 Traverse comes one of two engine options. The standard engine is a powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine that gets a remarkable 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. This enables the Traverse to get up and go with a 0-60 of 6.5 and a speedometer shattering top speed of 130 mph.
On the RS, the Traverse gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 257 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This provides some nice acceleration with a small engine displacement, effectively balancing power and efficiency.
Both engines come with an electronically controlled nine-speed automatic transmission that delivers smooth and effortless acceleration and driving. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available.
Performance
Even with the Traverse's large frame, it still achieves above-average fuel economy. With the 3.6-liter engine, the Traverse goes up to 27 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city. The turbo-four engine offers 26 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg in the city. Both options are rated to tow up to 1,500 pounds.
Interior
Thanks to the 2019 Traverse's standard third-row seating, the SUV can handle seven or eight passengers depending on the configuration. At full passenger capacity, the Traverse can still handle 23 cubic feet of stuff. If you need more room, fold the seats flat to unveil a sizable 98.2 cubic feet of storage volume.
Some of the other notable interior amenities include power-folding seats, an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and USB ports in each row.
Safety Features
The 2019 Chevrolet Traverse earns a perfect five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Using cameras, radars, and ultrasonic sensors, the Traverse has some amazing driver-assist safety specs. Forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, low-speed forward automatic braking, a rear vision camera, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change alert with side blind zone alert highlight these offerings.
